About This Episode
In this episode, I explore the importance of brand identity with my guest the identity architect Simon Clements.
Simon shares his journey from a two-week freelance trial with Cadbury Trebor Basset to his current work as a freelance graphic designer and identity architect.
He explains the concept of ‘identity architect’ and how it helps clients better understand their business and find the most effective way to market their product or service. He outlines the different aspects of brand identity, from the colours and fonts used to the psychology of the visuals. He also detailes his process when clients have no idea what they want for their brand identity.
Lastly, he discusses the design process and the benefits of professional branding, explaining why consistency and awareness of the brand is key to its success.
Of course, we also explore more about the man behind it all, Simon himself, as he shares parts of his journey candidly.

About My Guest
“After finishing a HND in Graphic Design and Advertising, I was approached by Cadbury Trebor Basset at my end of year show. They loved my work, and offered me a job in their in- house design team, based in Bourneville, Birmingham.
After facing a tough decision, due to health issues I had at that time, I decided to go it alone and start my own business. It was the best decision I ever made! I’ve been lucky enough to help many clients over the years, globally as well as nationally, and I have loved every minute!
I’m passionate about my work, and also pride myself on being honest, reliable and loyal to all of my clients!
I believe in the design process that I have in place. It’s a collaboration between myself and you, the client, to ensure that your end result looks good, delivers the right message, and that it’s something you’re proud of!”
