Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:00:14]:
Hey. Hello. Hello. Hello. Hello.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:00:36]:
Welcome. Welcome. Thank you so much for joining me in this, the first episode in a brand new series. Yes. Here we go. Series six already. Goodness me. You know, if if you told me back in 2019 when I started the, the podcast, if you told me we’d still be going five and a half years later, with episode with series even six, over a 50 episodes, over 70 guests so far, including some returning guests, I probably wouldn’t have believed it.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:01:12]:
I yeah. I I still can’t quite believe that we’re still going so I remember recording the hundredth episode thinking, wow. What a milestone. I remember recording the fifth birthday episode. Again, another milestone. And here we are, series six, over a 50 episodes so far. As I say, over 70, yes, including several who have returned from time to time over the over the course of the podcast. And we’re still going in ever greater numbers, apparently.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:01:42]:
Looking at the download numbers, more and more and more of you are tuning in, over time. So thank you so much. Great to have you with us. Thank you so much for choosing to have me whisper into your ear for a for a half hour each time. Or for those of you who watch us on YouTube I’m sorry. No, in fact, it’s great to have you, great to have you. And yes, we’re back with another series, series six. First episode of series six, this one is gonna be probably, I suspect, a little bit shorter than the than most episodes.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:02:20]:
Kind of easing us back in as it were to the to the flow of the podcast. Some musings on how this all came to be in the first place and where we’re going and what it’s all gonna be about. So settle down and let’s, let’s see what we come up with. Do you like the new intro? Did you like the new if you’ve seen it on YouTube, then you’ll seen nice new, nice new animated intro. If you’ve seen the podcast cover, a new podcast cover, it seems to have settled into a pattern of a new one for each series, which kind of gives each series its own its own identity. You can see they are kind of converging on a on a branding type. So each series has its its own identity, but still looks as though it’s part of the same family of the the Keith Blakemore Noble Radio Show, which is, which is pretty cool, I think. It’s sort of evolved.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:03:23]:
I get most of the stuff has evolved, naturally. It’s not how it was, envisaged five and a half years ago. So, yeah, this one, it’s gonna follow what has now seems to have become a winning formula, this series. Each odd numbered episode, including this one, is going to, be just me, just you and I having a chat, having a discussion about different topics, different themes, each, each episode. We have different themes. We’ve explored all manner of things over there over the past, five and a half years. I mean, we’ve looked at fears. We’ve looked at phobias.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:04:07]:
We’ve looked at mindset many times. We looked at different aspects of mindset, different ways in which you control it, hypnosis, success. We looked at forgiveness, resolution. I’m just kind of scrolling back through some of that some of the episodes we have here, which is it’s always interesting to see what we what we covered in the past. We’ve looked at affirmations, what they are, why they don’t work for some, how we can make ones that that work. I I remember we did one episode all about the, the Salem witch trials and what we can what we can, can learn from those. Looked at bottom statements, looked at myths, looked at different ways in which we can improve our mindset, how the mind works. We also veered off slightly into the anti manipulation, arena, which, is related to, the mindset stuff.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:05:01]:
That is looking at the tools, tricks, and techniques unscrupulous people and companies use to try and manipulate us. So, again, we’re gonna have a similar thing. There’s a blend of all those all those different sorts of topics. If you’ve got a topic that you would like, me to explore in here, like a mindset related topic, something about how the mind works, something about how we work, do let me know. I love hearing from, from each and every one of you. Some of you do get in touch. Some of you do message me. Some of you leave comments.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:05:38]:
I appreciate each and every one of them. The feedback is always invaluable. It’s always great to find out what you’re enjoying, what you’d like to see or hear more of. So please keep that keep that coming. Actually, on that theme, if you’re enjoying enjoying the series, if you enjoy episodes, it would be wonderful if you could perhaps leave a review on your favorite podcast platform. The more those reviews that you leave, the, the the more that signals to that platform of, hey. This is a popular, episode. This is a popular show.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:06:16]:
Let’s, show it to more people. It also means that when people are browsing through and they see the reviews, it’s, they get get a flavor for what it’s all about. And particularly, some of the reviews, I, must admit, some of those reviews, I will take and use, in promotion of the of the, yeah, of the, the podcast as well. So, yeah, please do leave your your leave your reviews and ratings, wherever you’re catching this, whatever platform you’re you’re accessing this on. We’re on we’re on all the all the platforms. We’re on, Apple Podcasts, Amazon Music, Audible, Spotify. I’m looking at the the downloads at some of the, more popular platforms that we get downloaded from. All of those ones that I’ve mentioned plus, Pocketcast, Castbox, Overcast, Podcast Addict, Davencast.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:07:10]:
It’s amazing to see all the different platforms that that that that you are finding the show on. So, yeah, give us a review. Give us a rating. It all helps. And as I say, drop me a line, get in touch, and let me know what you you’d like to see more of. Are there any particular themes you would like to see covered? I obviously have got lots of ideas for episodes, and I wanna make it relevant for you as well. So that’s the odd numbered episodes. That’s gonna be just you and me exploring a different topic, a different theme, each time.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:07:48]:
And the even numbered episodes. Even numbered episodes, we’re gonna continue having a different guest on each, each even numbered episode. It’s gonna me be me and the guest, and the broad overarching theme for all of the guest episodes, it’s basically interesting chats with interesting people about interesting things, just as we said in the in the intro to the podcast. Interesting chats with interesting people about interesting things. Hopefully, you’ll find the odd numbered ones are also interesting chats, about interesting things. But, yeah, that’s the theme for the guest ones. Kinda think of it like the old, talk shows. You know, like Wogan or Parkinson, if you’re of an age and, used to watch, British television.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:08:42]:
In the old days, you’ll be familiar with the the the those chat shows, that sort of thing where we just it’s just me and my guest just having a nice chat about whatever we’re chatting about. We do record them in one take. So what you hear is basically what’s, what we record there is minimal editing. And that’s done quite deliberately because the less editing we have, the more raw the, the episode, the more natural the flow of of conversation. It doesn’t become a start, stop, start, stop. It’s a much more natural flow, much more engaging conversation, which makes it easier for you, the listener, to, to listen to, to digest, to absorb. As I say, we’ve had, over 70 guests so far in the in the past. All manner of people.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:09:38]:
We’ve had authors, we’ve had, music groups, we’ve had magicians on, we’ve had hypnotists, we’ve had people talking about their life journey, how they got to be what they’re doing. We’ve had a discussion about menopause, about, neurodivergence, art. Again, I’m just looking back through some of some of the different episodes. Somebody on that their journey of dealing with, or living with, incurable, illnesses. I’d have fantastic, chat with, a gentleman who is covering the or covered the, British the, Paris Paralympic Games. One of the official photographers, that for there. We’ve looked at, being a disabled entrepreneur. We’ve looked at people who’ve, completely chain transformed their careers around going from a dead end job to something that they absolutely love.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:10:38]:
We’ve looked at charity stuff. Can’t the I mean, the list goes on and on and on. We’ve bullying a win. We’ve, looked at, we had the, a tale of somebody who, who got involved with, with the diamond trade in South Africa and some of the the hairy escapes that they they had there, charity fundraisers looking at how they go about, doing doing that sort of thing, looking at at design, yeah, all manner of things. Just interesting chats with interesting people about interesting things. And I have got lots more of those lined up for, series six and beyond because, hey, once series six is done, I don’t know when that’s gonna be finished yet. We’ll see how many episodes before it feels like it’s time for a natural rate. I mean, that’s how the, sorry.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:11:34]:
I’m jumping around topic to topic here. That’s how we decide when it’s time to finish a series is just when it feels right. You’ll notice different series have got different lengths, different numbers of episodes. It’s kind of when it feels you know what? It’s reached a point where, basically, I need a break because I do all of this. I do all of it myself. So the recording, the editing, the, creating the show notes, uploading it all, the the websites, the the pages for them all, the promotion, social media posts, all of that sort of stuff. Do it all myself partly because I just love it. I just really enjoy it.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:12:14]:
But it does mean there comes a time where it’s like, you know what? I need a break. I need a break from finding, interesting guests. I need a break from just doing all of this stuff. So I don’t know how long series six is going to be. I don’t know how long series seven is going to be when when that comes along, but let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. Where was I? That’s a good question. Where was I? Told you this is all done in one take. But, yeah, if you I’ve got, already, three guest episodes already recorded and, in the can, as I say.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:12:53]:
Not that I keep them in cans these days. That would that would be very, very silly. But it doesn’t sound as good when you say on the silicon, does it? Got the episode in the can. I’ve got the episode on the silicon. It just doesn’t have that ring to it, does it? So already got three guest episodes recorded. I’ve got, more guests booking. If you know of someone who could make a good guest, perhaps even yourself, go to go to the website KeithBlakemoreNoble.com. Look in the podcast section for the Keith Blakeman Noble Radio Show, and you’ll see, in the menu, be a guest.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:13:30]:
It tells you what I’m looking for and how to pitch your suggestion, whether it’s you or somebody that you feel would be a really good guest. Let me know. Let me know because it’s one thing me finding these interesting people. If you know somebody suitably interesting or if you are somebody suitably interesting, you know what? I bet you are. Even those of you thinking, oh, no. I wouldn’t be. I bet you’re more interesting than you think you are. I bet you’ve got more of a story than you think you have.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:14:01]:
I bet you’ve got more to share with us all, more that we can learn from you than you think you have. It’s great finding, finding these people. It’s great when others suggest and recommend these people. I absolutely love it. It’s a great way to connect with all manner of people, all walks of life, and to learn from them. Just have interesting chats about interesting things. It doesn’t have to be about their life. It could be about a particular theme or topic.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:14:27]:
Doesn’t have to be about what you do for work either. Could be a particular specialist interest where we go, you know what? That would make for a really cool episode just to just to talk about that. I know a lot of people would find that interesting, and I would learn a lot from it. I’ve gotta say, being selfish for a moment. It’s one of the things I love about doing this, connecting with all these different people and just finding out so much stuff. I love having these chats. I’d be happy to have these chats even if we didn’t record them for the podcast. But, hey.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:14:59]:
You know what? We’re having a chat anyway. Why not record it for a podcast and share it with you? So, yes, recommendations for potential guests. Again, let me know either via the website or if we’re connected on any of the social. You’ll find me on most of the socials. Oh gosh. Where are we? Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads, Blue Sky. Most active on all of those. You also find me on things like, Mastodon.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:15:30]:
I’m on TikTok, although I don’t really hang out there very much. I still haven’t still haven’t cracked that one. I don’t think people want to see me doing dodgy dances, but I still haven’t quite cracked TikTok. But, hey, I’m there because why not have a presence where people are right down on most of the most of the, the main, social media platforms. If we’re connected, you know someone who would be a good guest, let me know. Introduce me to them. Introduce me to them. Connect me with them, and we’ll see where the magic takes us.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:16:02]:
You never know. One key thing about the podcast, which is not going to change, no adverts. You might have heard it in the intro. No adverts. That is definitely going to continue. A policy of no adverts. Why? Well, when I’m listening to a podcast, I hate it where you’re really getting into it, then all of a sudden, bam, there’s an advert or and now a message from our sponsor. It just takes you right out of it.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:16:37]:
Yeah? I I don’t like listening to that. I don’t wanna subject you to that. And in the hiatus between series five and six, got me wondering because increasingly these days, more and more and more podcasts are filling up with adverts, with sponsors, and, yeah, a lot of they don’t call them advertised anymore. They call them sponsors. Sponsor the series, sponsor the episode. And they get their advert mentioned and they get a shout out. And maybe have the adverts at the start or at the end or in the middle or all three. God.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:17:14]:
Podcasts are becoming more advert, less podcasts these days in some cases. But I was wondering, what do people think about adverts in podcasts? So being curious, I did a poll. I did some research, and I asked, what do you think about adverts in podcasts? Four options. Option one, I love them. More, please. Option two, yeah. I can put up with one or two at the most. Option three, I’ll just skip through them.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:17:45]:
And option four, I detest them with a passion. Those were the four options. The results that came back were quite interesting. Unsurprisingly, nobody said, I love adverts more, please. Not surprisingly. I mean, let’s face it. We’re bombarded with adverts everywhere. Newspapers, magazines, TV, cinema, social all social media platforms.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:18:11]:
Heck, depending upon your email provider, mentioning no names, some of them embed adverts in your in your email clients these days, in in your in your chats, in your messages, mess messenger type of platform. Some of those, including adverts, you can’t get away from adverts. I quite like that my podcast is a haven from, peace and tranquility free from adverts. Yes. The results of the poll, nobody said they love, adverts. 8% of people said they detest adverts with a passion. 8% detest adverts. 29% said they can put up with one or two at the most, And an overwhelming 63% of people said who responded said, I skipped through them.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:19:09]:
63% of people skip through the adverts. So you add those to the ones who hate, detest them detest them with a passion. 71% of people either skip through the adverts or hate them with a passion. 71% of people. Why would I want to alienate potentially 71% of my listener? There’s gonna be no adverts. Also, that means no adverts, no sponsorship. It means this is also this is not a pay to play podcast. Those of you who look to become guests on podcasts probably aware that there’s an increasing number of podcasts are pay to play.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:19:57]:
You have to pay to be a guest on the podcast. Some of them just outright say, pay me this to be on the podcast. Some of them try to be a little bit cheeky with it. Oh, no. You’re not paying to be on the podcast. You’re paying for the marketing that I do of the podcast. No. Really? You’re gonna market your podcast anyway.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:20:19]:
The problem with all of that type of podcast, any podcast where a guest pays to be on the podcast, you know that the only reason they’re there is because they opened their wallet. And that just leads for a poor quality of podcast. Who wants to listen to podcasts which are just adverts and people paying to be on there? Because you know if they pay to be on, they wanna sell you their stuff. That’s not what podcasts should be about. Right? So no pay to play, no sponsorship, no adverts, which means, you know, if somebody is on my podcast, it’s because I want them to be there because I find them and their topic interesting and sufficiently interesting that I think you will find it interesting as well. Every single person who has ever been on my podcast has been on because either I’ve sought them out and gone, hey. You’re interesting. Please come on my podcast.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:21:21]:
Or some of them have said, hey. I’ve got this I’d like to talk about. What do you think? Could it be of interest? And we’ve jumped on a call and had a chat and gone, you know what? This should be something really interesting to chat about. There’s more that I can learn. I’m sure my audience would love to learn it too. So no pay to play, no sponsorship, no adverts. It’s always been the case. It will continue to be the case.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:21:48]:
Yet some people when they come on, they might have a written a book or something to plug. We’ll mention it in passing, but that’s not the purpose for having them on the show. And, yes, everybody who I do have as a guest, I will ask them where can people find out more and maybe get in touch with you. Because if we have an interesting enough conversation, some of you are gonna go, oh, I like that. I wanna find out more. I wanna find out more about this. Maybe I wanna get in touch with them. So we’ll ask them for those details.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:22:18]:
I’ll share them on the in the episode. But there’s no adverts. No advertising. No hard sell. No buy my stuff. Hopefully, you can, you can relax safe and secure in that knowledge. When I actually, when I did the survey about, adverts, Somebody did ask me, oh, so how do you monetise your podcast then? Because everything’s about everything has to be monetised these days, doesn’t it? You can’t have a hobby without money somebody telling you should monetise it. I never attempt to monetise the podcast.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:22:53]:
I started off because it was something that I enjoyed doing. It’s a great way to connect with people, listeners. It’s a great way to connect with guests. Brilliant way to introduce yourself to somebody that you wanna connect with. Makes it so easy. Hey. I love what you talk about. I’d love to connect.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:23:09]:
I’d love to tell you as a guest on the podcast. Fancy coming on. I mean, most people are not most people are gonna say at least say, hey. Hey. I’d like to find out more. Yeah. Let’s have a chat and see if your podcast would be interesting to be on. Very few people are gonna go, no.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:23:25]:
Go away. Do not talk to me. So it’s a great way of connecting with people. So that’s why I do it because I love it. Really curious. Love learning all of this new stuff. I’m sharing it with you. And, yes, some people will check out other episodes and then find they enjoy the stuff that I’ve been talking about, and they’re gonna check out my website and maybe get in touch.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:23:49]:
And, yes, I have had clients have found me through the podcast, liked what I talk about, gone on to check the website, and liked what was there, and got in touch to to to work with me for for coaching or or membership or whatever. So if there’s any monetisation involved, it is through that that sort of approach. But it’s not the podcast isn’t designed to monetise. That said, I have got now if you go, if you go to KeithBlakemanNoble.com/show and you look for the Keith Blakemore-Noble radio show there, you’ll find all of the episodes there, show notes, comprehensive show notes, contact details, all that sort of stuff, transcripts for for more all of the more recent episodes. You’ll also find there, a buy me a nice cup of tea link where you can push a button and donate like a fiver to buy buy a cup of tea if you like the show, if you like the episode. Feel free to do that if you really want. That’s as far as the monetisation will ever go with this. I suppose I should create a link really as well.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:24:59]:
Keithbn.link/tea, as in “tea”. You can use that. Donate the price of a cup of tea if you like the stuff and you and you really want to, but that’s as far as monetisation will ever go. There’s suddenly gonna be no adverts, no sponsorship, no pay to play, none of that stuff. The aim is just to bring you good quality content that you find interesting, helps you to grow as a person, helps you to learn, helps you explore new stuff, help you make greater sense of the world, ultimately help you to unleash your brain’s true potential, to take back control of your life. That’s what it’s all about. So that’s what’s coming on us. That’s what’s being happening in the in the podcast, and we’re gonna be continuing with more of that throughout series six.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:25:53]:
Do let me know what you think. Do give us a like, a comment. Share the episodes far and wide. Get more and more people listening, sharing all this stuff with more and more people. Give us a review, and a a rating, preferably five star if possible, if you like it, on your favourite podcast platform. Drop me a line. Let me know what you think. Let me know what you’d what other things you’d like me to cover.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:26:19]:
And do remember to subscribe on your favourite platform as well. That all helps. Let’s the platform know that this is a sort of podcast that people enjoy, so it will show it to more and more people. That’s it for now. KeithBlakemoreNoble.com/show. You’ll find the Keith Blakemore-Noble Radio Show there. You’ll find all the previous episodes, show notes, the whole shebang. You find us on your favourite podcast platform, more podcast platforms than you could possibly shake a very big stick at.

Keith Blakemore-Noble [00:26:51]:
I’m gonna go away now and I’m probably gonna go and have a cup of tea actually thinking about it. I shouldn’t have mentioned tea, should I? I really want a cup of tea now. I’m gonna go and have one. A nice cup of Earl Grey tea, I think. And I hope to catch you in another episode very soon. Bye for now. Oh, enjoy the new outro.
